CHATEAU RAMAFORT
CRU BOURGEOIS
MEDOC

PROFILE:

Chateau Ramafort, Cru Bourgeois, Medoc comes from a clay-gravel vineyard in Blaignan. The property, which dates back to the 17th century, has been classified as a Cru Bourgeois since 1932. The grape blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot, which is perfectly suited to the terroir. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and is entirely aged in oak casks, of which one third are new each year, for 12 months. The barrels are sold after three years of use to ensure that no “off” flavors are imparted. Chateau Ramafort is aged in bottle at the cellars of the winery for three years before release to ensure that the wine is ready to be enjoyed when it arrives in the market. Chateau Ramafort is shipped in wood cases, and represents fine value. It is brimming with ripe plum and cassis flavors which are enhanced by the stylish use of new oak. Chateau Ramafort is suitable for drinking upon release with beef, lamb and game with decanting or about an hour’s aeration, but it will also reward those who have the patience to cellar half of their stock for 3 to 5 years. In recognition of the wine’s outstanding quality, Chateau Ramafort 1995 was awarded the very prestigious Coupe des Crus Bourgeois. Since then, the chateau has exceeded this high standard in each successive vintage.
